East Bay hike: East Bay Municipal Utility District on Watershed Land

Saturday, August 30 | King Canyon Loop | 10:00am to 2:00pm

Rating: A moderate, 6-mile walk with about 1000 feet of elevation gain. There is one steep climb and descent on the hike.

Notes: This hike takes us through old ranchland, now preserved as watershed. We’ll see what the East Bay was once like as we venture through abandoned orchards and past old homesteads. There are many native plants and trees along the trail, including madrones, coast redwoods, bays, and oaks. As we walk along riparian areas, we’ll be treated to varied birdlife, including egrets and herons. We’ll ascend a high ridge for beautiful views of the East Bay landscape.
