Water Stations

Civic Center Plaza | Friday, August 29 – Sunday, August 31 | 9am – 4pm | Free

To highlight issues concerning urban and global water use, Slow Food Nation partnered with Food & Water Watch and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to develop accessible and visible water stations at Fort Mason Center, Civic Center Plaza and the Great Meadows. Water stations served filtered municipal tap water using state of the art technology from US Pure Water/The Water Store and displayed materials to educate attendees about San Francisco’s watershed and the campaign to promote tap water consumption. Signature Slow Food Nation and Food and Water Watch stainless steel water bottles were available for sale at all sites. All water was free of charge and dispensed by volunteers. Food & Water Watch estimates that the Slow Food Nation Water Stations prevented over 100,000 plastic water bottles from going to landfills.
