Coffee: Finding a Fair Fix

Fort Mason Center | Included with Taste Pavilions Ticket: $45 – 65 | Saturday, August 30; 11am – 3pm; 5pm – 9pm | Sunday, August 31; 11am – 3pm; 5pm – 9pm

Though most coffee is enjoyed far from where it grows, coffee roasters committed to building a sustainable and just food system work hard to narrow the gap between producers and consumers. The Coffee Pavilion showcased a broad variety of coffees that exemplify the preeminent role of the coffee grower in producing outstanding quality and flavor. Multiple tasting stations served flights of contrasting coffees, highlighting different coffee origins, botanical varietals and processing styles. A world class espresso bar featured coffees which, when prepared as espresso, communicate the craftsmanship of the farmers. Some of the world’s most skilled baristas flew to San Francisco and volunteered their time for the event in order to help give visitors a glimpse at some of the exciting advances in North American espresso culture.
