Marketplace
Civic Center | Friday, August 29 – Sunday, August 31: 9am - 4pm | Free
The Marketplace transformed San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza into an urban garden, farmers’ market, outdoor food bazaar and soap box to demonstrate and celebrate food that is good, clean and fair. Located directly in front of City Hall at the heart of downtown San Francisco, the Marketplace - which attracted over 85,000 visitors - made the bold statement that a sustainable and just food system can produce healthy and delicious food for everyone in San Francisco and beyond.
-
Market

Visitors bought seasonal fruits, vegetables and artisan-made foods directly from the people who grew and made them.
-
Slow on the Go

“Slow food” got fast: Bay Area vendors brought a world of simple, affordable, sustainable “street food” to the heart of San Francisco.
-
Soap Box

The people whose livelihoods depend on food and agriculture shared their stories at the Soap Box stage in the Victory Garden.
-
Water Stations

Slow Food Nation was a bottle-free event. The Water Stations made free, filtered tap water available to everyone.
