This Is My Experience

Like the many highly-driven, Soylent-chugging residents of Silicon Valley, I too was looking for brain food that would bring my attention and memory sharply in line. Ideally, it would have to be a nootropic that I could obtain easily, without a prescription, and it wouldn’t cause any side effects like Modafinil or Adderall do. I had used Sunifiram sporadically to very pleasant effects, but gave it up because of safety concerns (it hasn’t been tested on humans).

At this point I stumbled across a Coluracetam review online that called it the next best nootropic that would likely become very popular in the coming years. It had undergone trials and the results were positive in light of its potential for treating anxiety and depression.

What is known?

This particular brain candy belongs to a group of nootropics called racetam, derived from the one that started it all – Piracetam, go read our piracetam review. BrainCells Inc. now has the patent for the drug and they have been conducting research on it. Phase 2A trials have found it promising for general anxiety and Major Depressive Disorder. Some studies suggest that it may be particularly good for enhancing areas of the brain that deal with visual processing.

Calmer and Possessed Thought Process
brain booster

My experience has been very pleasant and interesting to say the least. I had read that responses to nootropics are very individual. For instance, some people find Phenylpiracetam enhances problem solving and creative thought, but a friend used it only to experience light brain fog. I took this supplement with no expectations, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the effect it had on me.

Within a few hours of taking the first dose, I experienced a sharp clearing of vision and alertness. The effect was similar to what I had experienced with Sunifiram. It seemed very powerful, and I could actually feel the effects of the drug. The effects also lasted for around three to four hours. There was a slight, not unpleasant pressure at the temples accompanied by better moods, some increase in the color saturation of what I was seeing, and when I got down to work with it, I was definitely able to recall the words I was looking for a lot better. My memory also improved for that duration – I was able to remember stuff from books way more extensively than ever before, this as well as the activity of the working- and short term memory increased.

With more extended use, I realized that unlike Sunifiram (which is not a racetam like Coluracetam) it offered a calmer and more possessed thought process. Personally, the laid-back alertness of of this supplement suits me, though it may not be enough for people who want a nervy, super-speedy thought process. The only downside of Coluracetam for me is that its effects last for only a few hours.

The Verdict

I would recommend Coluracetam for people seeking a laid-back sharpening of vision, memory, creativity and other enhancements that are common with racetam. It may not give you a quick thinking and super-sharp thought process, but it does give you Buddha-like calm creativity that can help to boost your productivity and decision-making skills. I can’t say I felt any side effects, but you should always ask your doctor’s advice before trying any new supplements and always stick to the recommended dosage!

If you are looking for a natural supplement with similar effects, though not as strong, I’d recommend either Ginkgo Biloba or Matcha Green Tea Powder.

Get It Online?

Where is the best place to buy coluracetam? Well, I get it online at Peak Nootropics, this is a really professional site where the overall quality is very good and the shipping is pretty quick. On their site, they say they always ship within 24 hours after purchase unless it’s a national holiday or a sunday. If you live in the U.S, it normally takes about 3 days to get your package and I have found that this true most of the time. More About Itcoluracetam chemical structure

Coluracetam is a nootropic agent composed of a Racetam compound synthetically derived from Piracetam. It is also soluble ethanol. It was first developed and tested in Japan by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation for Alzheimer’s disease in 2005. It was then made available to the general public in 2013 and quickly gained recognition for its cognitive effects.

Many of the benefits and exact mechanisms are not verified and needs to be confirmed by further research, but what is indicated by the studies performed (see reference at bottom) is that when in action, Coluracetam improves the body’s choline uptake through the high affinity choline uptake (HACU) process; the mechanism for absorbing and converting choline into neurons during the Acetylcholine synthesis process. By facilitating the conversion of large amounts of choline into Acetylcholine, the brain memory, alertness and attention is improved. Coluracetam also affects sections of the brain that are concerned with visual processing, and is therefore touted to improve the sense of sight.

According to BrainCells Inc, this is a potential treatment for various diseases and disorders that affect the brain and nervous system. Such diseases and disorders that Coluracetam has the potential of treating and preventing include; ischemic retinopathy and optic nerve injuries. The ability of this supplement to reverse the loss of choline production makes it a potential drug for treatment of schizophrenia. These refer to the clinical benefits of this product. Obviously, more research is needed to conclude these coluracetam benefits.

Coluracetam also has various other benefits that are not clinical. It is helpful in

  • Enhancing cognition
  • Improving memory
  • Better decision making

it does this by increasing choline uptake and synthesis of Acetylcholine. It is also able to reduce cytotoxicity (a state of being toxic to body cells) of the brain, which is usually caused by an influx of calcium in cultured cortical neurons. This occurs when supply of oxygen to the brain is limited. Coluracetam is also considered an anti-depressant and can therefore possibly be used in treating various forms of depression. It can be effectively used to deal with stress and hangovers by creating feelings of contentment and peace. This is a motivation boosting nootropic, a distinct feature from the other nootropics. It has also been found to be effective in the treatment of patients experiencing major depressive disorder and general anxiety disorder making this nootropic supplement an effective anti-depressant.

A unique feature of this nootropic that makes it distinct is that it is the only high affinity choline uptake (HACU) enhancer. This enables it to speed up the flow of Acetylcholine in the brain thereby improving the brain functions of memory, mood, intelligence and learning.

The dosage for may not have a medically recommended standard, but a maximum of 200 mg a day is advisable. The dosage also varies depending on the reason for using the supplement. For instance, users taking the supplement to treat major depressive disorder or general anxiety disorder may be advised to take 300 mg a day in order to get the maximum benefits. It also depends on where you buy coluracetam, so be sure to use the dosage recommended by the company where you bought your supplement as well as asking your doctor advice before buying coluracetam.

Side Effects

The use of Coluracetam is relatively safe with very few side effects. The common side effect that may be experienced is headache. This can however be countered by stacking Coluracetam with Centrophenoxine, Alpha GPC, or CDP Choline to reduce such side effects. However, if you are planning to buy coluracetam, ask your providing company for further instructions on how to stack it.

If you found this interesting we also recommend you to buy Pramiracetam or Phenibut!
